CUSTOMER REVIEW
I'm a really busy guy and have never rated anything on Amazon but the value of this purchase needed to be shared with others.
My daughter wanted to have a backyard movie night for her 12th birthday, I was tempted to rent a projector since this was the lowest cost alternative considering I didn't own one or know of anyone who could loan one to me for the night. A decent projector rental (as far as I could tell from the specs) was going to cost me close to $100 a day, so I thought I would see what I could buy on Amazon.
I had 3 of the lowest priced projectors in my shopping cart and was comparing specs and reviews, ended up choosing this one. I reassured myself that "if it's terrible, I'll just return it"...but I'm not returning this projector, it's my new favorite toy!
After fumbling around with set up, I tried playing a DVD (Lord of the Rings) inside my living room. Projecting on a wavy white sheet hanging from a curtain rod, the picture quality looked okay but I wasn't jumping up and down excited.
The next day (daughter's birthday party) I got a sheet of 4x8 plywood and painted it white and built a stand to hold it on the edge of our backyard lawn. The dimensions are just a little off for the 16:9 aspect ratio but close enough. This time I played a Blu-Ray disk (Jurassic Park) and focused it in on the newly made screen and this time the picture quality was awesome!
Got a standing ovation from a dozen girls when it was over, everyone had a great time..
Parents showed up to pick up their kids and every one of them was impressed, especially considering the modest price.
Played Frozen on the screen last night and was delighted once more, to the point that I thought I should share.
Only had the projector for a few weeks so I can't speak to the quality over time but I'm absolutely thrilled with the purchase thus far.
I'm not really savvy when it comes to video equipment but 2 of my friends are and both were shocked at the quality for the price.
Two points in closing.
1. It must be dark when you use it
2. Use a blu-ray instead of DVD, much much better image quality
Enjoy!
